MNsure Marketplace Plans

Minnesota's official marketplace — and the only place to get financial help.

MNsure is Minnesota's official health insurance marketplace. It is the only place you can get a premium tax credit, and a lot of households qualify for one without ever realizing it. There is no cost to work with us — we are paid by the carrier, not by you.

This is a federal subsidy that lowers your monthly premium, and it is based on household income and size. People routinely assume they earn too much to qualify and never check. The only way to find out is to run the numbers, which takes a few minutes and costs nothing. That is why income is the one question on our form we insist on.

  • Premium tax credit eligibility check
  • Cost-sharing reduction plans
  • All MNsure carriers compared side by side
  • Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare screening
  • Special enrollment period qualification
  • Help creating and managing your MNsure account
  • No fee to you — carriers pay our commission

Marketplace coverage is normally bought during open enrollment for the following year. Outside that window you need a qualifying life event — losing employer coverage, moving, marriage, divorce, a birth or adoption. Those windows are limited and they do close, so if something has changed for you, call sooner rather than later.

Depending on income, your household may qualify for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare rather than a subsidized private plan. Both are accessed through MNsure. We will tell you which bucket you fall into instead of selling you something you do not need.

How to Add Pat as Your MNsure Broker

MNsure lets you attach a broker to your account, and it costs you nothing — brokers are paid by the carrier, not by you. Once Pat is attached we can actually see and help with your application instead of guessing over the phone.

  1. 1

    Create your MNsure account

Go to mnsure.org and set up an account if you don't already have one. You'll need names, dates of birth and income information for everyone in your household. Have last year's tax return handy — it makes this part much quicker.

  2. 2

    Add Pat as your broker

Inside your account, look for the option to add an agent or broker. Search by zip code — use 55413 — and Patrick Bernauer will come up in the results. Select him and confirm.

    Search zip code 55413

  3. 3

    Start your application

Begin the application once Pat is attached to your account. You don't have to finish it perfectly. Getting it started is the part that matters.

  4. 4

    We take it from there

Once Pat is your broker we can see the application on our end, check it over, and make sure it gets submitted properly. Small mistakes on a MNsure application cause real delays, so we'd rather catch them than have you find out weeks later.

  5. 5

    Then we help you choose

When the application is through, we go over your actual plan options with you — what each one costs, what your subsidy comes to, and whether your doctors are in network. That guidance is the whole point, and there's no charge for it.

Fill out our quote form either way. Do it before, during or after you set up MNsure — it tells us who you are and what your household needs, so when we pick up your application we already know what we're looking at. And if you get stuck at any point, call Pat at 952-457-5894 and he'll walk you through it.

You'll work with Pat or Spencer directly

Pat and Spencer are the agents here, so whoever quotes mnsure marketplace plans is the same person who answers when you call about it later. No call centers, no getting handed off, no explaining your situation twice. They'll work closely with you from the first question through every renewal after it.

Would rather not fill in a form? Call Pat directly at 952-457-5894 and give him your information over the phone. It takes about the same amount of time, and plenty of people prefer it — you're welcome to do it that way.
